What I received in JANUARY 2002

Since the 'Post Me Stuff' project only went online in mid-January, the scheme got off to a good start when I received the items below...   [Then see: What I sent back and What I received in February].

Christmassy package from Marie of Denmark

WHAT I GOT: Marie Kastrup from Copenhagen sent me a very nicely scribbled-on envelope containing a Christmas picture (coloured in and with glitter stuck on) with a letter which she had written to a friend. As she explains, "I've written a hell of a lot of Christmas cards and (stupid me) never got around to actually post them. It's too embarrassing to send them now, but with all the effort I put in them I didn't wanna waste them, so here it is, for you. It's all in Danish, but I hope you get something out of it."

REACTION: This was a fantastic piece of post. I could tell it would be brilliant from the envelope which warns "This envelope contains sparkly items!". Marie is now my favourite Danish person.

Postcard from Coinneach of Germany

WHAT I GOT: Postcard which the sender admits "is not sparkly or even very nice" but offers a unique combination of a postcard which is unbearable bearing a stamp which would soon be unusable (due to being replaced by the Euro stamps very soon).

REACTION: Coinneach cleverly realised that the unlovable card and near-redundant stamp would find a happy home in my collection of postal rarities. Hurray.
